Solid Perfumes

Exploring alternative fragrance options to improve your routine: Solid perfumes!

If you've never heard of solid perfumes, i'm honestly not surprised! For such an amazing product, it's really not talked about enough and surprisingly, there are only a few quality brands that create them. Solid Perfumes might be revolutionary and here's everything you need to know about them!

Solid perfumes are a combination of wax and oils that solidify, into balms, but can also be found as gels and creams. They are extremely beneficial for travel as there's no caution of spilling, leakage or smashing. These lasts longer on the skin in comparison to liquid perfumes, as the moisture delays the "drying out process", so you don't have to reapply as often and therefore a little goes a long way. This is the same concept as applying Vaseline before spraying your perfume but even better as the balm acts as an additional moisturizing lock for the scent.

Application

To apply, you simply press warm fingers into the solid perfume to warm up the wax and then dab it wherever you'd like or even run through your hair. Fundamentally, it works best when applied to your pulse points, like the wrists and neck. The warmth of your body in those spots will help the scent to diffuse throughout the day for long-lasting wear. They have a higher concentration than most au de toilette perfumes, but unfortunately, their concentration is still quite subtle in comparison to parfum sprays. This is obviously dependent on the chosen brand and preferred scent, but this may therefore be ideal for those who prefer a subtle scent, and is also great for layering!

Make your own

If you already have a favourite fragrance or Signature Scent *wink wink*, you can easily turn them into a solid perfume with a few simple steps!
  • Add cocoa butter or coconut oil and beeswax to a small, microwave-safe bowl.
  • Microwave in 25 second increments until the mixture is fully melted. ...
  • Take the top off your liquid perfume. ...
  • Add the 1 ml of liquid perfume to your bowl containing the melted cocoa butter and beeswax.
  • Pour the mixture into your container.

Recommendations

However, if you're not currently in your DIY era, there are some amazing solid perfumes out there ranging from extremely inexpensive such as LUSH's range and lots from luxury perfume brands such as Jo Malone London and Diptyque.
Solid perfumes sound like the secret to any good perfume routine! Not only are they long lasting, but also inexpensive and safe for your skin, due to limited alcohol used. Add them to your routine and use them to layer your favourite scents!
